Queued Messages

You don't have to wait for the agent to finish before you type. Send a correction, an extra detail, or a whole new request while it works: TatsuCode queues the message and hands it to the agent at its next safe moment, between steps, so nothing it's in the middle of is cut off.

What You See

  1. You send a message while the agent works. A notice appears in the chat: Message queued until tool execution completes, with the start of your message and any images or files you attached.
  2. The agent reads it at its next safe break. A Queue: Read card shows how many messages it picked up, and your messages appear in the chat at that point in the conversation.
  3. It takes them into account and carries on, adjusting the work if your message changes it.

What the Agent Is Told

The agent doesn't just learn that "something is waiting". It sees what you wrote and is asked to read your messages at its next safe break, because only reading them tells it whether they change the task.

Every queued message also carries the time you sent it and how long it waited. A message read a few minutes later may ask for something the agent has already done, and the timestamps let it tell.

With Claude Code as your main model, the reminder reaches it between its tool calls, including its own built-in ones.

When the Turn Ends First

If the agent finishes before reading your messages, they aren't lost: they go to it automatically as your next message, with a note of when you sent them. There's nothing to resend.

Messages From Other Windows

Messages from another TatsuCode window (Cross-Talk) that arrive while the agent is busy wait in the same queue. They're always labeled as coming from that window, never as something you typed, and the agent treats them that way.

Good to Know

  • Reopened sessions show your queued messages where the agent read them, as they appeared live.
  • Order is kept: several queued messages are read in the order you sent them.
  • Images and files can be queued along with your text.
